The Porter House Hotel
Spread across two buildings, - a beautifully restored 1876 heritage building seeped in rich history and a 36-story sleek modern tower - the recently-opened Porter House Hotel in the heart of Sydney’s CBD seamlessly blends the old with the new. Paying homage to the building’s beginnings in the tobacco and leather trade, the hotel has a coloured and fascinating story that has been thoughtfully accentuated and brought to life through its interiors.
THE ROOM.
Spanning the first ten floors of a brand new construction, The Porter House Hotel comprises 122 ultra-modern and high-tech guest rooms and suites. With muted tones of mushroom, blush pink, and soft blue-grey used throughout, each of the rooms and suites have a minimalist and serene feel. Plus, all have an iPad beside the bed which controls the lighting, music, television and even the opening and closing of the sheers and black-out blinds, all from the touch of a button.
We were upgraded to a Superior Twin Room, which don’t appear to have any discernible differences from the lead-in Classic Rooms, and although space was adequate felt on the smaller side, though oozed character and was complete with many luxurious finishes.
AMENITIES.
As a brand new boutique hotel, the hotel comes complete with a top-floor state-of-the-art fitness centre and outdoor heated swimming pool.
DINING.
Situated on The Porter House’s top-floor, Spice Trader is Sydney’s latest cocktail bar, paying homage to a bygone era of merchant traders. A stylish late night rendezvous with an unforgettable bar and artisanal cocktails with the allure of the new and exotic.
Dixson & Sons is a contemporary interpretation of a modern brasserie, underpinned by sophisticated simplicity. Drawing on Executive Head Chef Emrys’ global experience, the restaurant’s à la carte menu weaves Asian influences and Australian native ingredients into a menu that favours premium, seasonal New South Wales produce.
Inspired by European delicatessens, Henry’s Bread and Wine is an all-day destination where you can grab food on the go or sit down and relax. Pick up some blooms, nibble on antipasti and house-made terrine or enjoy something from the cocktail menu.
