Sofitel Adelaide
When Sofitel Adelaide opened its doors just over a year ago, it became the first new-build, international five-star hotel to open in Adelaide’s CBD in 30 years, so very much the new kid on the block.
Stepping off Currie Street and into the hotel’s chic and contemporary lobby, you’ll find a space flooded with natural light and with soaring high ceilings which has been thoughtfully adorned with an endless array of curiosities and many interesting design features to entertain the eye. The most striking undoubtedly the red ribbon comprised of ten thousand strands of glass that suspends from the ceiling, designed to represent the wine-making process, a nod to the handful of wine-growing regions close to the city and the hotel’s cultural link to the city of Bordeaux in France.
THE ROOM.
Just like the lobby, the hotel’s 251 rooms and suites, spread across 24 levels, are similarly contemporary and chic. Upgraded to a
Luxury Room, the room felt generously spacious, with a wide entryway, banquette seating framing the floor-to-ceiling glass window, and an open marble bathroom, complete with a free-standing deep-soaking bathtub.
AMENITIES.
On Level 10, you’ll find the hotel’s executive lounge Club Millésime. Here Club guests can enjoy daily complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening drinks and canapés.
There aren’t many hotel pools that are as regal as Sofitel Adelaide’s, complete with no less than four stunning blue chandeliers.
DINING.
The hotel’s signature restaurant is where many guests begin their day, with buffet breakfast served here daily. Afterwards, the restaurant serves up a menu that aims to reimagine French gastronomy, led by the restaurant’s Mediterranean-born Head Chef, Gianni Delogu, coming from Melbourne’s Vue de Monde.
Inspired by the romantic sidewalk cafes of Paris, Déjà Vu Champagne Bar is a stylish, albeit rather cozy, spot to toast the day whilst enjoying a light bite to eat, connected to the main lobby area.
