Bar Hopping in Hong Kong
There is certainly no shortage of places to enjoy a drink with a view in Hong Kong! We had done our research, we had our list of places we wanted to hit, so here are a few of the bars that we ended up visiting during our short but sweet time in the concrete jungle that is Hong Kong.
For accommodation in Hong Kong read about my stay at the InterContinental Grand Stanford
Lobby Lounge | Tsim Sha Tsui
Definitely one of the most impressive lobby lounges I've come across in my time! The aptly named Lobby Lounge at the InterContinental Hong Kong is a must-visit, as with floor to ceiling glass windows and soaring high ceilings, it offers a mesmerising panoramic view of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island. I read online and in books, it's a particularly popular spot to watch the nightly "Symphony of Lights" show and I immediately saw why as the view lay before my eyes.
Although we didn't visit at night, we did have lunch here (or shared lunch because of the prices!) and enjoyed an iced tea each, equivalent to the price of a cocktail at a trendy bar back home! Though it was very refreshing, so much so we returned for another on our last day in the city (that, and to escape the heat!).
18 Salisbury Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
Open 7 Days Midday - Midnight
WHAT WAS ORDERED:
NASI GORENG Fried rice topped with chicken and beef satays, fried egg and prawns.
SCUBA BERRIES Butterfly pea tea, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries and berries mix.
Sugar | Taikoo Shing
Hands down the best bar we visited during our time in Hong Kong! Sitting on the 32nd floor of the uber-chic EAST hotel, Sugar is another must-visit for a drink (or five!) and comes highly recommended. This particular bar is a little outside the heart of the city (although you certainly wouldn't know it looking out at the endless sea of skyscrapers!) in an area known as Quarry Bay.
We arrived shortly after it opened (at 5:30pm) and were super lucky to secure a prime seat outside on the deck by the railing, offering a jaw-dropping view over the entire harbour. Planning on only having one, maybe two drinks here before heading on, the plans quickly changed as we really did not want to leave. Instead, we stayed here for a few hours, making the very most of happy hour, savouring the incredible view before us, watching the sunset and the lights turn on over the city - pure bliss!
I think I liked this bar so much because I had no real expectations and the view was very different, as it looked out to the harbour more and felt more open compared to the bars in the CBD of Hong Kong. Plus, we were in shade and there in the afternoon, meaning the temperature was actually quite pleasant!
So, if you only get to one bar whilst in Hong Kong, this is definitely the one!
29 Taikoo Shing Rd, Taikoo Shing, Hong Kong
Open 6 Days Monday - Saturday 5.30pm - 1.00am (Friday & Saturday open till 1.30am)
WHAT WAS ORDERED:
HOUSE COCKTAIL
MANGO CAPRIOSKA
SOFTSHELL CRAB BAO
Popinjays | CENTRAL
Located atop the ultra-luxurious The Murray Hotel, Popinjays was certainly one of the most sophisticated, stylish and contemporary bars we visited. Popinjays, a term once assigned to parrots, takes its name from the resident cockatoos along neighbouring Garden Road, Hong Kong Park and Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens, and is a bar you can easily imagine would attract a particularly flamboyant, social and fashionable crowd.
The bar comprises an indoor bar area, though its open, wraparound terrace is undoubtedly the best place to savour the panoramic 270-degree city views - though maybe just visit in the afternoon so you don't die of heat exhaustion!

22 Cotton Tree Dr, Central, Hong Kong
Open 7 Days Midday - 11.00pm (Friday & Saturday open till 1.00am from Midday & 11:30am respectively, & Sunday opens at 11.30am)
The Iron Fairies | CENTRAL
Like the majority of the bars in Hong Kong, The Iron Fairies only opens in the evening, meaning we only ducked our heads in for a brief moment to check it out. I stumbled upon this particular bar whilst strolling through Instagram (like many bars on this list!) and it immediately caught my eye!
The bar is quite small and extremely hidden, definitely one you would not simply come across if you did not know about it. The bar is super unique and one you really have to see to believe, resembling more of an industrial, dimly lit workshop than a bar. Inspired by the designer's real-life experience working in the iron mines of Western Australia, in the centre of each circular table in the main workshop area there are thousands of iron fairies and private furnace and casting rooms. Plus, 10,000 butterflies hang from the ceiling on thin copper rods, along with 12,000 bottles of fairy dust around the bar!

1 Hollywood Rd, Central, Hong Kong
Open 7 Days 6.00pm - 2.00am (Friday & Saturday open till 3.00am)
Piqniq | CENTRAL
Ever had a picnic in the sky before?! Well, you can at Piqniq, offering a selection of dishes served picnic basket-style, along with a range of drinks (of course!). Located right in the beating heart of Hong Kong's CBD, Piqniq exodus fun and playfulness (partly due to one of Yayoi Kusama's iconic polka-dot pumpkins featuring in the corner!) and is the perfect place for al fresco drinking and dining with a sizeable outdoor terrace. Though it definitely can get hot, with little shade, so we only stopped here very briefly for a drink and to rest our legs!

80 Queen's Road Central, Central, Hong Kong
Open 7 Days 11.00am - Midnight (Friday & Saturday open till 4.00am)
OZONE | Tsim Sha Tsui
Located on the 118th floor of the ultra-luxurious Ritz Carlton Hong Kong, OZONE is considered to be the highest bar in the world. The views from this high up are truly breath-taking and opting to enjoy a drink here rather than paying to go to the observatory 18 floors below makes a lot of sense! Though be prepared for some insanely exorbitant drink prices - think thirty dollars for the cheapest glass of rosé (I wish I was kidding!).

1 Austin Rd W, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
Open 7 Days 5.00pm - Midnight
CÉ LA VI | CENTRAL - (PERMANENTLY CLOSED)
After spending time in Singapore and visiting the CÉ LA VI there, located atop the iconic Marina Bay Sands, upon discovering there was also one in Hong Kong, it was immediately added to the list! Like the one in Singapore, CÉ LA VI Hong Kong comprises a restaurant, club lounge and a rooftop bar (Sky Deck) and spans over three floors between levels 23 -25. We simply enjoyed a quick drink outside on the rooftop, taking in the incredible 270-degree sweeping views of Hong Kong, before continuing exploring the city (aka heading to the next bar).
STILL ON MY LIST:
Felix at The Peninsula in Tsim Sha Tsui
Wooloomooloo Steakhouse Lounge in Wan Chai
Aqua in Tsim Sha Tsui
Skye Rooftop Bar and Restaurant at The Park Lane by Pullman in Causeway Bar
Cafe Gray Bar at The Upper House in Queensway
Sevva in Central
