Sofitel Brisbane Central

Centrally located right in the heart of Brisbane city, directly above Central Station and overlooking both ANZAC and Post Office Square, the Sofitel Brisbane Central has long been a distinct part of Brisbane’s skyline.

As a sign of appreciation for my time spent interning at the hotel earlier within the year, in the hotel’s marketing department, as well as for my assistance with taking some photographs for the hotel, I was very generously and kindly ‘gifted’ a complimentary overnight stay at the hotel. I had stayed at the Sofitel before, though as it was many years ago I hardly remember the experience, so I was looking forward to once again staying at the property.

THE ROOM.

Boasting 416 luxuriously appointed rooms and suites, the Sofitel Brisbane Central offers a range of different elegant room and suite types for guests to choose from. Every room at the property, like in every Sofitel hotel around the globe, seamlessly blends contemporary design with refined French elegance.

During our overnight stay, we stayed in a Classic Junior Suite, which effectively is two rooms combined, with a separate lounge room and bedroom. The suite, therefore, was incredibly spacious, even featuring a powder room upon entry, on top of the marble bathroom off the bedroom, and overlooked ANZAC Square. Beyond this, notable luxurious in-room amenities included a Sofitel MyBed, a Nespresso coffee machine, 62" LED TV's in both the bedroom and lounge room, wireless phone charging docks, a Bluetooth speaker, makeup station, USB charging points, and a separate work desk.

AMENITIES.

Whilst we did not take advantage of any of the amenities at the Sofitel Brisbane Central due to our brief stay, the property does offer all guests access to the on-site heated outdoor pool and fitness centre. Plus, the Sofitel is also home to Stephanie’s Spa, arguably the finest luxury spa in Brisbane, as well as the largest five-star meeting and events spaces in the city, with fifteen conference rooms which are able to accommodate up to 1,100 people.

DINING.

CUVEE LOUNGE BAR

Flowing off from the lobby is Cuvée Lounge Bar, an expansive, sophisticated space perfect for enjoying a glass (or two) of champagne or a bespoke cocktail along with some light snacks before or after a meal. Otherwise, with its all-day menu its also an ideal setting to enjoy a light, albeit rather pricey, meal.

THYME² RESTAURANT

Pronounced ‘time square’ owing to the fact it overlooks ANZAC and Post Office Square, Thyme² Restaurant is by far the most popular eatery at the Sofitel for it offers buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day of the week. During our stay, we enjoyed the much-loved dinner buffet (which on Friday and Saturday nights includes a vast selection of locally-sourced fresh seafood), as well as the buffet breakfast the following morning.

PRIVE249

The property’s signature, award-winning fine-dining restaurant is known as Prive249 and is located in an enclosed, dedicated dining room off Thyme² Restaurant. Unlike Thyme² Restaurant which provides buffet-style, all-day dining, Prive249 instead only opens for dinner and offers a la carte dining. The restaurant’s menu features a range of sophisticated, contemporary French-Australian dishes.
