SO/ Berlin Das Stue
Part art gallery, part hotel, the SO/ Berlin Das Stue is a feast for the eyes, with quirky, playful details all around, with much of the hotel’s decor inspired by the hotel’s close proximity to the Berlin Zoo as well as rich history. As although incredibly contemporary inside, the hotel is housed in a heritage-protected building from the late 1930s which was once the Royal Danish Embassy, as such has been thoughtfully decorated to convey and celebrate the building’s long history.
The vision of award-winning Spanish designer, Patricia Urquiola, guests are encouraged to look around and pause, noticing the elegant original parquet floors, French doors, restored wooden inlays and the enormous brightness which pours in from the oversized windows.
THE ROOM.
As if walking into the pages of an impeccably-styled magazine cover, each of the hotel’s various rooms and suites are modern and effortlessly cool in harmony with the rest of the building’s interiors. With unique layouts and designs, no two rooms are the same, though large panormaic windows overlooking the park and zoo and high ceilings can be expected.
AMENITIES.
Spanning an area of 260m2, the Spa by Susanne Kaufmann offers a 14- meter pool, Finnish sauna, and a fitness room. All for pure, high-quality reflection for body and soul. The three rooms are ideal for individual and couples’ treatments.
DINING.
The hotel’s signature fine-dining restaurant, The Casual offers an elegant and relaxed atmosphere for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant’s kitchen is dedicated to modern Italian cuisine, using only high quality seasonal products, with a focus on the individual ingredients.
The Stue Bar could almost be interpreted as a laid-back lounge. But its playful, sophisticated interior concept, coupled with pleasant musical sounds, views of the zoo and an impressive range of whiskey and vermouth, leaves no doubt that this is a first-class bar.
