Palazzo Versace

The distinctive vision of Gianni Versace himself, Palazzo Versace Gold Coast exudes luxury, glamour and sophistication and when it opened (at the tail-end of 2000) was the world’s first fashion-inspired hotel.

Acclaimed as one of the best hotels in all of Australia, Palazzo Versace offers guests pure indulgence and a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the opulent Versace lifestyle. With bespoke Versace furnishings and subtle (and not so subtle) Versace-inspired details all around, - Dr Santo Versace's design philosophy was "everywhere the eye looks must see a feature" - you’re unlikely to forget where you are.

From soaring high vaulted ceilings, handcrafted mosaics (the mosaic in the driveway is the second largest in the world, taking 5 master Italian tilers of an average age of 65-years-old, each coming from a different region in Italy and bringing with them hand-picked pebbles, six weeks to complete), $11.5 million worth of marble imported from Carra Italy, and a jaw-dropping crystal chandelier which originally hung in the State Library of Milan (and which weighs in excess of 750kg!), Palazzo Versace is undoubtedly grand and unapologetically bold and showy.

Palazzo Versace really is everything you would expect in a hotel from the world of Versace: an exclusive waterfront setting, spectacular architecture, opulent accommodation, a design distinguished by Versace bespoke furnishings and Italian craftsmanship, extraordinary service and an ambience of pure glamour.

THE ROOM.

Palazzo Versace comprises 200 light-filled bedrooms and suites, along with 72 two- and three-bedroom condominiums, all of which are appointed with bespoke Versace Home furnishings, the exclusive Palazzo Versace custom bath amenities range, and private “Juliet” balconies welcoming the Gold Coast sunshine to pour in. During our time at the property, we stayed in a 36m2 Superior Room, which comprised two double beds, a beautifully-appointed bathroom complete with an inviting couple-sized spa bath, and a Juliet balcony offering views over Marina Mirage.

Like the rest of the property, each of the rooms, suites and condominiums at Palazzo Versace are designed using rich textures and accents that explode with vibrant colour and are heavily influenced by the Versace brand. This is seen in the bespoke furnishings, rich parquetry flooring and unique Italian marble open-plan bathrooms.

AMENITIES.

From the moment you step foot inside Palazzo Versace, the hotel’s award-winning 65-metre-long lagoon pool, with its very own man-made white sandy beach (the sand comes from Surfers Paradise beaches), is in full view. The pool, which contains over 1.2 million litres of salt chlorinated water is the largest heated pool in the Southern Hemisphere. An exotic poolside oasis set in the heart of the hotel, it’s very easy to lounge poolside all day - dip, sip, unwind and relax as the radiating Southern Queensland sun shines year-round.

Beyond the pool, guests can enjoy the on-site spa, fitness centre, and library.

DINING.

POOLSIDE DINING

If you’re anything like me, you’re likely going to be spending quite a bit of time poolside during your stay at Palazzo Versace. Unfortunately, the poolside food and drinks menu is rather limited, however, this was partly as a result of the poolside bar area being closed due to the COVID-19, therefore may be more comprehensive post-covid - I’ll have to return and see!

IL BAROCCO RESTAURANT

Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, Il Barocco is always cooking up something delicious. Pre-COVID-19 Il Barocco was a buffet-style restaurant, famously known for offering one of the best seafood dinner buffets on the coast. Now, the restaurant is exclusively à la carte, serving up bountiful Australian produce, enhanced by a combination of Italian inspired flavours, and showcasing an incomparable variety of the freshest quality seafood, fish, meat, poultry and regional produce with unrivalled quality, all in the surrounds of Versace luxury.

VANITAS

For a night to remember, make a booking at Palazzo Versace’s signature, multi-award-winning Italian restaurant, Vanitas, renowned among the best fine dining restaurants on the Gold Coast. Overlooking the hotel’s sparkling lagoon-style pool, Vanitas has been awarded a prestigious chef hat by The Australian Good Food Guide for 4 consecutive years (Vanitas was awarded two chef hats in 2017).
