A Slice of Heaven Three Hours South of Sydney
Jervis Bay, home to arguably the whitest sand and the bluest water you will ever see, is less than a three hours drive away from Sydney. The close proximity to Sydney coupled with the scenic drive, following the Grand Pacific Drive along the coast, makes a trip down to Jervis Bay the perfect coastal getaway.
Located within the South Coast region, stretching south from Sydney to the border with Victoria, Jervis Bay is littered with countless untouched beaches, national parks, and wildlife.
While exploring the South Coast region, the ultra-stylish Bannisters Pavilion, in the small town of Mollymook, would be our home away from home for the next couple of nights.
The next morning, after enjoying a beautiful breakfast on the rooftop of our own hotel we set off, north to Jervis Bay - about an hour's drive away. The weather was just perfect which really made it feel like we had just arrived in the Maldives or Bora Bora - I mean looking at the water you really wouldn't be able to tell.
We visited Chinaman's Beach and the renowned Hyams Beach, which according to Guinness World Records has the whitest sand in the world. Both beaches were stunning, and ideal for paddling in the calm waters, sheltered by the bay - and were noticeably a lot quieter than Bondi; believe it or not.
We ate in the main town of Jervis Bay, Huskisson at the centrally located Huskisson Hotel, overlooking the bay.
As we made our way back to Sydney we stopped off along the way at Kiama for lunch and caught the sunset just north of Wollongong at Stanwell Park, which is the perfect vantage point to view the well-known Sea Cliff Bridge - undeniably a stand-out highlight of the Grand Pacific Drive.
