A Foodie's Guide to Perth

From outdoor rooftop bars for a drink to donuts to satisfy your cravings to a fine-dining waterfront experience, these are some of my favourites to check out when visiting Australia’s most isolated capital city.

For accommodation in Perth read about my stay at Crown Towers Perth and The Westin Perth

The Aviary | CBD

Boasting the largest rooftop space in the state, spread over a staggering five hundred square metres, The Aviary is the place to head when the sun is beaming and a drink is needed. Featuring timber decking, lush trees and plants, day beds and relaxed furniture, with the city skyline setting the backdrop, this open-air rooftop oasis in the beating heart of Perth makes for the ultimate hangout spot. Although, unfortunately, it was quite busy and a little hot when we visited, as it was a Saturday and close to midday, and therefore did not get a chance to enjoy a drink here, I would definitely give it a try if you're in the city - let me know if you do!

140 William St, Perth WA 6000

Open 7 Days 11.00am - 10.00pm (Friday & Saturday open till 1.00am)

Long Chim | CBD

Found downstairs in the beautifully restored State Buildings within Perth's CBD is Long Chim, a divine Thai restaurant, worth checking out for its quirky and colourful interior details alone. Although, unfortunately, we did not have the time to dine here this time around, after a perusal of the menu it's definitely on my 'to eat at' list when I find myself back in the city. Interestingly, after a quick Google search I discovered that beyond their Perth location and Singapore, Long Chim can be found a little closer to home, with restaurants on the east coast, in both Sydney and Melbourne. So, it looks like I'll be checking the Sydney one out the next time I am down!

Pretzel | Northbridge

Housed in a pretty pink shipping container and selling the best sweet and savoury pretzels in all of Perth is the aptly named Pretzel. Utterly unique, each pretzel, whether sweet or savoury, is served warm and covered in some kind of topping of your preference. I was craving something sweet so I went with the equally pink-looking pretzel, known as Coconut Fluff, which was coated in pink marshmallow fluff and toasted coconut - scrumptious!

MOP Donuts | CBD

Simply bombolicious; MOP Donuts is absolute heaven for all donut-lovers (me) and are the kind of donuts worth blowing your calorie budget for! With an array of tempting flavours on offer, making the decision to narrow it down to only one (or two, or three) almost impossible, MOP Donuts, hands down make the best bomboloni donuts in the city. Notably, an individual MOP donut is $4.90, however, you can get half a dozen for $20.00, which is a truly incredible value, so undoubtedly treat yourself and get the half a dozen - think about the calories later!

Of an afternoon, after wandering the streets of Perth we stopped into The Island and enjoyed a selection of snacks which were all $10 that particular day and time and then retired inside to share a couple of pizzas for dinner.
